Telecommunication Industry News & Updates.- Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales defended the Bush administration's controversial eavesdropping program but declined to answer specific questions about it during a hearing yesterday on Capitol Hill. Gonzalez did say the government had considered a broader plan that would have included domestic phone and e-mail surveillance as well but ultimately rejected it.
