DAILY TELECOM NEWS: Senate committee considers federal-state panel on franchising

Telecommunication Industry News & Updates.- Members of the Senate Commerce Committee have proposed creating a joint federal-state panel to revamp cable-franchising laws. "The idea would be that some of the FCC and some of the state [public-utility regulatory] people would come up with some recommendations," Sen. Ted Stevens said.
